Training
Lone Wolf Ranch offers both clinics and private instruction in:
- Calf Roping - Strong arms, fast fee and quick hands are the keys to success. This event has three athletes: a very fast calf, a roper, and a roping horse. We train the second two!
- Team Roping - The header needs a fast catch on the horns and a quick turn off the horse to present the steer's heels to the heeler, who tosses a loop precisely so it falls in the steer's stride. Learn the tips and tricks to help synchronize your team's timing.
- Cutting / Sorting- Competitors have two and a half minutes to separate as many cows as possible from the herd. We'll teach you the ropes in this competitive event!
- Barrel Racing - Winning takes a well bred, athletic horse, and a highly skilled rider with nerves of steel. Tight turns are imperative in this event where second place is often only tenths of a second away.
- Pole Bending - To win, a horse and rider must successfully weave between six poles faster than their competitors.
- Basic Horsemanship - We'll start indoors, and teach you how to groom and saddle your horse. After you get the feel of the ride in the indoor arena, we'll take to the trails where you'll learn both Western and English riding styles.
